Days 189-191: "A Rebellious House"

Ezekiel 2:6-7

 

Ezekiel 2:6-7 (ESV) "And you, son of man, be not afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you sit on scorpions. Be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house. And you shall speak my words to them, whether they hear or refuse to hear, for they are a rebellious house."

Day 188: "To Your Master"

Isaiah 37:6-7

Isaiah 37:6-7 ESV "Isaiah said to them, 'Say to your master, "Thus says the Lord: Do not be afraid because of the words that you have heard, with which the young men of the king of Assyria have reviled me. Behold, I will put a spirit in him, so that he shall hear a rumor and return to his own land, and I will make him fall by the sword in his own land."'"

Days 180 and 181: "Never Again"

Zephaniah 3:13-15English Standard Version (ESV)

     those who are left in Israel;
they shall do no injustice
    and speak no lies,
nor shall there be found in their mouth
    a deceitful tongue.
For they shall graze and lie down,
    and none shall make them afraid.”

 Sing aloud, O daughter of Zion;

Rejoice and exult with all your heart,
    O daughter of Jerusalem!
 The Lord has taken away the judgments against you;
    he has cleared away your enemies.
The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst;
    you shall never again fear evil.

Days 162-167: "Fear Not, Little Flock"

Hi friends! Both L. and I are going to be gone at different camps serving this week, so we're posting a set of verses ahead of time for y'all to read and be encouraged with. This passage from Luke 12 is so heavy with encouragements from Jesus not to worry because the one who holds us knows what will happen and promises to take care of us! I pray it encourages you; I challenge you to meditate on it daily with me this week, trusting Jesus for our needs.

Luke 12:1-34 (ESV)

"In the meantime, when so many thousands of the people had gathered together that they were trampling one another, he began to say to his disciples first,"Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops. but the one who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God. "I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him! Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. "And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God, And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself or what you should say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say." And he said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me." But he said to him,"Man, who made me a judge or arbitrator over you?" And he said to them,"Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." And he told them a parable, saying,"The land of a rich man produced plentifully, and he thought to himself, 'What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?' And he said, 'I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God." Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you. "Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

Day 151: "You Have Not Obeyed"

Judges 6:10

Judges 6:10 ESV "And I said to you, 'I am the Lord your God; you shall not fear the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell.' But you have not obeyed my voice." 

Who are you fearing this week? The fear of the Lord is a good thing, commanded by God, but the fear of idols or of man is destructive to your heart and your spirit. Put Jesus above the things of this world, let Him be the highest priority in your life. -M.

Acts 27:23-24 ESV "For this very night there stood before me an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I worship, and he said, 'Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar. And behold, God has granted you all those who sail with you.'"

Day 116: "Everything That I Command You"

Jeremiah 1:17 English Standard Version (ESV)

"But you, dress yourself for work;arise, and say to them everything that I command you. Do not be dismayed by them, lest I dismay you before them."

Wow. This really hit me today. I get so scared of what people will think that I forget God's sovereignty, even over what people think of me. Obedience to Him matters more than every other factor effecting my decisions combined. So why don't I live like that's true? Do you live like that's true in your life? Like nothing else matters as much as God?
