Day 59: "God Gave Him Rest"

2 Chronicles 20:29-30

2 Chronicles 20:29-30 (ESV) "And the fear of God came on all the kingdoms of the countries when they heard that the Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel. So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest all around."

Day 56: "Those Who Are With Us"

2 Kings 6:15-17

2 Kings 6:15-17 (ESV) "When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, 'Alas, my master! What shall we do? He said, 'Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.' Then Elisha prayed and said, 'O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.' So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha."

Day 55: "In Wrath Remember Mercy"

 Lord, I have heard the report of you,
    and your work, O Lord, do I fear.
In the midst of the years revive it;
    in the midst of the years make it known;
    in wrath remember mercy.

Proverbs 1:7 (ESV)

Day 53: "For I Have Given Him Into Your Hand"

 But the Lord said to Moses, “Do not fear him, for I have given him into your hand, and all his people, and his land. And you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”
There are so many examples in scripture where God gives a battle into the hands of the weaker fighter. When something looks to difficult, look to God. If it is His best He will bring it about in hIs timing, If not, ask Him what is. God never remains still because He can't do something, The most common reasonsI know of that God doesn't do something we want Him to is that we aren't ready, He has a better plan, or we simply didn't ask. So bring God all your dreams, even the crazy ones. The college you'd like to go to, your dream job, your crush, your desire to be free from sins you keep going back to, that ministry you want to begin. You don't have to be strong enough. God is.

Psalm 119:38-40

Day 51: "He Who Goes With You"

Deuteronomy 20:3-4

Deuteronomy 20:3-4 (ESV) and shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel, today you are drawing near for battle against your enemies: let not your heart faint. Do not fear or panic or be in dread of them, for the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’

Day 49: "Who Fights For You"

Deuteronomy 3:22 (ESV)

"You shall not fear them, for it is the Lord your God who fights for you."

Day 48: "The Living One"

"When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades."
I love how He (Jesus) says not to be afraid, and then gives us such intense reasons to fear Him. But He starts with saying not to be afraid, because yes, He is the first and the last, and He holds the keys to death and Hades but because He died and rose again He can use those keys to keep anyone who would trust Him safe from hell forever.

Day 46-47: "I Am He Who Comforts You"

12 “I, I am he who comforts you;
    who are you that you are afraid of man who dies,
    of the son of man who is made like grass,
13 and have forgotten the Lord, your Maker,
    who stretched out the heavens
    and laid the foundations of the earth,

Day 45: "Perfect Love"

1 John 4:18-21
 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.19 We love because he first loved us. 20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. (ESV)
Happy Valentines Day!

Day 44: "Steady"

Psalm 112:8

Psalm 112:8 (ESV) "His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries."

Day 43: "Be Still, and Know"

Psalm 46:10 (ESV)

"'Be still, and know that I am God.
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth!'
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah"
When we realize who God is, we realize that we have nothing else to fear when we take refuge in Him. Take time to read this chapter or another about who God is, and ask Him to help you see the size of whatever you fear in relation to the God who created and sustains all things and loves you like crazy. Ask Him to be your fortress! "none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned".
Once you've been reminded (or read for the first time) of who God is, take time to be still and know that He is God. He will be exalted, HE is with you and He is your safety. Rest in that.

Day 42: "He Was Looking to the Reward"

Hebrews 11:26-27

Hebrews 11: 26-27 (ESV) "He [Moses] considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward. By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured as seeing him who is invisible."

Day 41: "Who Goes Before You"

Deuteronomy 1:28-31

Deuteronomy 1:28-31 (ESV) "Where are we going up? Our brothers have made our hearts melt, saying, 'The people are greater and taller than we. The cities are great and fortified up to heaven. And besides, we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.' Then I said to you, ‘Do not be in dread or afraid of them. The Lord your God who goes before you will himself fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes, and in the wilderness, where you have seen how the Lord your God carried you as a man carries his son, all the way that you went until you came to this place.'"

Day 40: "I Am"

Day 39: "They Will Soon Fade"

Fret not yourself because of evildoers;
    be not envious of wrongdoers!
For they will soon fade like the grass
    and wither like the green herb.

Day 38: "I Will Trust"

Isaiah 12:2

Isaiah (ESV) “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”

I love the part of this verse that says God is our song. He is what I will sing of forever and ever. If you've never done this before, I challenge you to write out the things God's done in your life that would go in your "song." You don't have to write the song itself, but write what yours might say and thank God for those blessings He has given you.

Day 33-35: "A Shield About Me"

Psalm 3 (ESV)

Hey People!
Yeah, we missed like two days. :( But we're back! So gather up all that time you didn't spend reading Simplex the last two days and a deep breath and check out this whole Psalm. Do you relate to David's feelings at the beginning? How can the truth he reminds us of help you?
-L.

A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son.

 O Lord, how many are my foes!
    Many are rising against me;
many are saying of my soul,
    “There is no salvation for him in God.” Selah[a]
 But you, O Lord, are a shield about me,
    my glory, and the lifter of my head.
I cried aloud to the Lord,
    and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah
 I lay down and slept;
    I woke again, for the Lord sustained me.
I will not be afraid of many thousands of people
    who have set themselves against me all around.
 Arise, O Lord!
    Save me, O my God!
For you strike all my enemies on the cheek;
    you break the teeth of the wicked.
 Salvation belongs to the Lord;
    your blessing be on your people! Selah

Day 32: "The Servant of God"

 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.
